Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Thousands of people in southeast Louisiana evacuated ahead of the storm and are sheltering through the region. Currently, nearly 1 million people are without power, hundreds of people had to be rescued from their homes, homes are flooded, and communities have been asked to shelter in place. Unfortunately, it is expected that new deaths will be reported in the coming days. Buildings and infrastructure are damaged and there is a long road ahead of us for recovery.
Power Coalition will be providing disaster response in communities throughout the impacted areas. Any support you provide will stay in Louisiana communities and help people most affected by the storm.
